Towering above the Taw valley a solitary sheep sun’s itself with the first warm rays
of the coming day. Beyond the flanks of Belstone Tor the wooded valleys of mid Devon
are shrouded in river mist while to the right are the shaded lower slopes of Cosdon
Beacon which towers over this part of the northern moor. Cosdon has many relics of
the Bronze Age and even the Neolithic.
